~Peter Pan Collar

Hello strangers from around the world who I don't know but love...
I hope you all had a fantastic Easter and are enjoying the holidays or time off from regular duties. I've eaten so much chocolate and sweets that I swear I'm going to turn into one! Which would probably resort in me eating myself....◑.◑
ANYWAYS,
I was thinking of doing a good Easter D.I.Y I could share with you all and I in the end decided I would go against an Easter D.I.Y because I had no inspiration and most of the ones you already see online every other Blog, Youtube channel and their dogs and have that. So with that I went to my 'List of idea's' in my notes on my phone of where I put all of the things I want to make or post on Cutely Crafting and choose (or you've already guessed) a peter pan collar!

I've been wanting to do this D.I.Y for absolute months but wanted to wait so I could post it as a tutorial. I fell in love with this cute and on trend accessory when Marzia Bisognin (CutiepieMarzia) expressed her love for the quirky fashion. But where I live there was none of my style that I liked, which resorted in me having to go online shopping... OR make my own, like the example below...

This is a photo of Design 3 ~ Bowtastic!

I made three different peter pan collars for this tutorial, two of them turned out pretty good, one kinda failed but I wanted to share it with you all anyways, it was a good idea, but it just didn't work out how I wanted it to. Which is my fault anyway for going online and getting the cheapest materials I could find for that design.

So lets get this D.I.Y started ヽ(^。^)丿

What you'll need:
Fabric material for the collars - For design 1 I used lace. Design 2 I used lace and t-shirt fabric. Design 3 also used t-shirt fabric.
Fabric glue - You will need fabric glue otherwise you won't be able to wash/clean your collars.
Ruler - To measure up.
Ribbon - The colour is up to you but I used white.
Scissors - The sharper the better.
Iron on transfers - This is only for design 3
Paper - To make your template.
Pencil or marker - To outline your template with.

Preparing for work:
I worked at my desk for this D.I.Y and used a simple sheet of paper so I didn't get glue on it. I also advise to wear an old t-shirt or jumper so you don't get any glue on your clothes since it is after all 'Fabric Glue' and will be hard to get off. Also tying your hair back if it's long like mine is a good idea, I didn't and got glue in my hair  *rolls eyes at self stupidity.
Also another vital thing to do is make sure you have the fabric needed, such as the lace, plenty of ribbon and fabric.

Step 1:
To start off with your going to need to make a template. For all of these designs I created I decided to just do a simple smooth circle collar, so only one template was necessary to make. But go ahead and do any sort of shape for your collar or collars, there are heaps of types of ways to make your collar unique! You can get inspiration from the internet if you like.
Getting a plane sheet of paper and a shirt from my closet I outline the collar with a pencil. This is to make sure the collar has a collar-like shape. It doesn't matter how low or high the shirt it since you can alter it with the ribbon.
Next is to make your collar shape. Then fold the paper in half and cut along the lines. Here is what mine came out...

Step 2: Design ~1 Pretty in Lace
Now that you have your template you can start with the first design *claps aggressively
This is the most easy out of all the designs I made and took the least time. All you are going to need for this design is lace, fabric glue and ribbon.
First off you are going to want to place your template on your lace and make sure it all fits onto the material.

Next thing to do is to fold the fabric in half. This way when you cut you'll get two perfect sides which are symmetrical.
So my little duckling put your template (which is folded in half as well) on the folded edge of the lace. Then outline the template with a pencil or marker. Once that is done with half your template you can cut it out with scissors. So if you've done the steps correctly when you unfold the lace you should have two perfect sides!

Next is to get two pieces of ribbion (30cm long) and stick them on the end of the collar. I stuck mine with 2 cm of the ribbon. *a note for you is to put the ribbon on the back of the collar so you don't see it when your wearing it.
Let it dry and BOOM, you have your very own Peter Pan collar!

Step 2: Design 2 ~Bowtastic!
Now this design is very similar to the first one, but with a few exceptions.
Start by following the same instructions of cutting out the lace out are going to want to do the same thing but also cut out a piece of white fabric. I had nothing else so I just cut up an old t-shirt which worked fine. Using the same method in Design 1 cut both your lace, and t-shirt fabric using your template. Once this step is complete you should have two pieces of fabric that look like this...

So you have two pieces of fabric, but want to make 1 collar. So the only way of doing this is to (using fabric glue) stick the two together. It should look like this..

*note: make sure there isn't anything that you don't want to stick onto your fabrics. I left and some food crumbs somehow feel on whilst it was drying. I had to use tweezers and tiny scissors to get them off.

Optional: So you've waited a while and your glue is dry, next up get a piece of ribbon (mine was 50 cm long but you can go longer or shorter depending on how you want your ribbon to look) Then in the middle of the collar you can make a bow. It adds to the cute factor and makes it about 10 times more adorable in my opinion!

So it doesn't matter if you haven't put a bow on in the middle or not but you are going to need two pieces of ribbon about 30 cm's long like in Design one so you can actually wear your peter pan collar.
Wait for it to dry and you've finally competed your second collar!
*team work high five! (v゚ー゚)ハ(゚▽゚v)

Step 3: Design 3~ No They Aren't Pineapples They Are Roses....
Now as I said in the intro and as you can tell in what this collar is called I kinda... well... how do you say it.... failed miserably.... Yeah, that's it.
I brought myself a pack of 20 iron on transfers off ebay. That was my first mistake. I went for the cheapest I could find and my stinginess came back to bite me on the bum! The colours came out very different from the design I created, Thus why I called it what I did. The pretty pink flowers that I used came out rather yellow. Not how I intended it but oh well.
But if you have good quality iron on transfers and want to give this one a go here it is!

I made this design on Clip Studio Paint PRO you are free to use it ;3

Like in the previous two Designs you're going to need to cut out your collar using the template. I again used t-shirt fabric for this collar.
Then following the directions on your iron on transfers instructions you can make your personalized, very own peter pan collar. *note- you should mirror your image before printing so the image doesn't come out backwards before printing.
Put the two 30 cm ribbons on with fabric glue and wait to dry! That's pretty much it! But make your you follow the directions that come with the iron on transfers, or you might fail like me (╥﹏╥)
Here is the end product anyway...

And there we have it! Another cheap, easy and fun D.I.Y that can make your outfit just the bit more interesting and adorable! I'd love to see your recreations on Instagram as well! I'm @cutelycrafting. Tag me and I'll re-post your picture for everyone to see!
Also I was thinking about making Cutely Crafting a twitter page, what do you think? It would be a good way to broaden my audience, but I've never had twitter before so I'd like to know if it's worth the time -__-

Also a big sorry for being so late to post! I've had a hectic past couple of weeks and it's holidays so I want to be able to hang out with friends and relax.
 Thanks for understanding  (◡‿◡*)❤
But I should have this weeks post up within the next couple of days to get back into my weekly routine .
